High cholesterol level in the body is sometimes also referred to as Hypercholesterolemia. In this state of condition, the balance of cholesterol in the body becomes abnormal resulting in the risk of heart disease or strokes. Cholesterol in its normal level is very much helpful for the body as it is useful in making hormones, Vit D3, acts as an antioxidant etc. Cholesterol also plays a very important role in protecting us from cancer and from the signs of aging.
However, high level of cholesterol is bad for heart and can cause strokes, and Vitamin B proves to be magical for treating Hypercholesterolemia or High cholesterol level.
Forms of Vitamin B helpful in treating High Cholesterol
We all know that Vitamin B is of many kinds. Thus, the forms of Vitamin B that are beneficial ion controlling the high level of Cholesterol in the body are Vitamin B6, Vitamin B12, Folic acid etc. all these 3 forms of Vitamin B are known to lower the amount of Homocysteine, a complex compound that is responsible for heart disease and strokes. Lowering this compound helps in lowering the cholesterol. Apart from that Vitamin B3 or Niacin is also very useful. Niacin helps in lowering the content of LDL or Bad cholesterol, thereby proving beneficial for the body and heart.
Foods rich in Vitamin B to lower cholesterol:
One can have food items like Roasted beef, salmon, brown rice peas etc. One can also include fruits like banana, Apple, carrots, tomatoes etc.
Note: Also try and stay away from alcohol to lower the cholesterol level.
