Hypertension is affecting a lot of people all over the globe, and the increasing level of stress is said to be the prime reason of Hypertension. However, there are plenty of other causes through which Hypertension occurs. In order to lower the high blood pressure, calcium, potassium and magnesium is included in the diet. On the other hand, sodium is something that should be reduced in order to lower the blood pressure.

When the amount of salt in our body is normal, everything goes normal, but once the level of salt increases, it causes several problems. Salt has the property to draw water. Thus, excessive amount of salt starts flowing in the blood stream increasing the water content and resulting in increased blood pressure.

In order to lower the content of sodium in your diet, you must eat maximum amount of fruits and fresh meats and fish. One must avoid pickles, Ham, Cheese, Olives, Bacon, along with canned and processed food. Use of spices and herbs in place of salt will also be a better option.

Tips to reduce sodium content:

Do keep a track of the things you eat and drink, and the salt content in it. This way, you will be able to keep a track on the amount of salt you intake. Also choose food items with low sodium content in them. Eat less processed foods as they have high amount of sodium. Don’t add extra amount of salt to your food as it may cause raw sodium intake.

If you are facing any difficulty in getting away with sodium, then you should consider settling for food items with least sodium content. Before you purchase any time, just check the label for ingredients, and buy only those stuffs that have light or low sodium.
