Get Rid of Pigeons

Pigeons can be compared to rats as far as their adaptability to urban environment is concerned. Pigeons have become very dependent on humans and their presence in the rural areas can almost go unnoticed. Below are given some measures which can be employed to get rid of these birds.

Shooting:

This idea will not be liked much by many people but if you are really serious of driving the birds out of your property, you should give this idea a thought. Pigeons show a lack of fear towards human population and thus you will not require a big rifle. Usually pigeons are considered as pests, and thus you can use rifles on them, but even then consult the local authority before taking this step.

Live Traps:

The most effective form of controlling the population of pigeons in the urban areas is using live traps. They are referred to as pigeon motels and are considered to be the cheap form of control technique. For this technique, you need to bet a particular area so that the pigeons get used to coming and feeding there. The next step is to leave the doors of the trap closed with some pigeons inside it. This will attract more pigeons to get in. also, some water should be kept for the birds in the trap.

Bird Netting:

Netting can be used to keep the pigeons out of the roosting sites. This is not the cheapest type of prevention, but is effective.

Bird Alarms:

Bird alarms or can be used to drive pigeons away, but the effectiveness of them can be questioned. They come with both an alarm and a visual deterrent. But it may so happen that the pigeons start to enjoy the sound.

Chemical control:

Chemical control can be accomplished ion two ways- Poison and repellant. Both of them are readily available in the market and one can use either of the two as per the demand of the situation.
