How To Wean A Baby?
Weaning your infant can be the most difficult time for a mother. Weaning is a careful process that has to be done with a lot of care. You can allow your infant to wean naturally where the baby grows old and understands that it is time to move on. But this method is time consuming. There are several methods that you can employ to wean your baby with ease.
Methods of weaning a breast fed infant
Here are a few tips on weaning a breastfed infant:
- Cut off a session of breast feeding and feed the infant with some solid food as per the age.
- Decrease the duration of breast feeding.
- It is best to replace the morning feeding session with solid food as the baby will be hungriest at that time and will easily accept the change.
- If the infant is no adjusting the change, it is best to make the first transition from breast to bottle than to solid food.
Along with the solid food, it is advised that you feed the baby with fluids like juice or water. This will make the transition easier. Most infants will be hesitant to let go off the bed time feeding session. To remedy this situation, feed the baby with a lot of solid food just an hour before the nap time. This will make the infant hesitant to take the nap time session. Feeding the infant with a snack just before bed time will also do a lot of help to wean an infant.
The food that you feed has to be healthy and should have a lot of nutrients. Including a lot of vegetables and fruits will be good. Make sure that the food has good nutrient content and should be able to append the nutrients that will be cut down by lack of breast feeding.
